Alan Steelman, Vice Chairman and Head of Advisory Boards
Alan serves as Vice Chairman for Alexander Proudfoot, with responsibility for Advisory Boards. Alan joined Alexander Proudfoot in 1977, following a successful career as a member of the U.S. Congress, representing Texas Fifth District (Dallas), and serving on the White House staff during the first term of President Richard Nixon. He was the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Texas in1976. At Proudfoot, he has held a variety of roles including President of the Asia-Pacific region, and Chief Operating Officer for the company worldwide. He has also served as President of Maxager Technology, Inc., and as Senior Principal of Monitor Company. He has served on the boards of Sterling Software (NYSE), Aristocrat Technologies (ASX), and the Texas Growth Fund (Private Equity). He has also served as Chairman of the Dallas Council on World Affairs, and the Center for World Thanksgiving, in Dallas, and as Vice-Chairman of the Tower Center for Public Affairs at Southern Methodist University.
A graduate of Baylor University, Alan earned a Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University, and won a Kennedy Fellowship for postgraduate study at the Institute of Politics at Harvard University.
